On Monday, April 5, 2010, a plaque was placed on the former WOOK Radio and TV Station building at 5321 1st Place, NE recognizing the building as a significant part of Washington, DC African American history and culture.
Thanks to the Hand Dance/dance community and the community at large, including Teenarama, Inc. the NHDA Shoe Drive for Haitian earthquake victims was a complete success. The effort officially collected 2,500 pair of shoes during the one month drive. Thanks to the earnest participation of the oldies dance clubs, organizations and the generosity and enthusiasm of its many patrons –The goal of 1,000 pairs of shoes was dramatically exceeded.
